HI! MY NAME IS ALEX.

I have been trying to make sense of my life in several different ways. This place attempts to register a bit of my thinking throughout the process. Hope it can be a bridge for you and me to establish a meaningful conversation.

BUDDHISM AS A SPIRITUAL PATH. HUMANITY AS THE FINAL DESTINATION.

I’ve been trying to articulate my path through Buddhist lenses for around 10 years now, with an emphasis in Himalayan Buddhism (from Tibet, Ladakh, Nepal and Bhutan). I had moderate levels of success doing so. For me, spirituality goes hand in hand with a critical understanding of myself and the world. Ten years in a human body amounts to the size of a small child. I am afraid I still have very little to share after these years of exploration.

TRANSLATION AS AN ACT OF GIVING.

My background is mainly in translation, which I think of as the communication of the humble. Translation is allowing great ideas to be understood, even though you are not the one who had them in the first place.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

I am Brazilian, and I started thinking about communication during my bachelor’s in Law while reading and writing extensively through the many technicalities of the field.

Still in university, because I had a good grip on languages, I started doing my first freelance translations. Soon enough, the translations occupied most of my time and this resulted – up until now – in the translation of three books, more than thirty academic papers, and some Tibetan poetry here and there.
My working languages are:

Portuguese <-> English <-> Spanish <- Classical Tibetan [not Colloquial]

I am currently working further on the development of my academic skills as a Master of Divinity candidate in Harvard University.

IT IS ONLY WORTH IT IF IT HAS MEANING

Even though I do trail many paths, the common thread among all is my desire for meaning. Putting it simply, I do not believe any service is worthwhile unless it brings a positive impact on the lives of others. I am willing to learn any thinkable skill – from juggling to rocket science – if I am convinced it can be of benefit to others.

If you think you have a meaningful service to provide to this world and you would like people to help you expand this service reach, I believe we can be of great help to each other.
